How to run a non-default virtual desktop environment

You can configure the node to run an alternative desktop environment. To do that, edit the node.cfg file (namely /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg), ensure that the DefaultDesktopCommand key is uncommented and set there a proper command for launching the desktop environment of your choice.

$ sudo nano /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg

sudo apt-get install xfce4 lightdm-gtk-greeter
sudo apt-get install lightdm-gtk-greeter
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

[SeatDefaults]
greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
